Today is Friday. I'm supposed to have class later this afternoon but our professor said that they will not be meeting us until next week, so there's no reason to travel 30 minutes to school today. It's a relief since it's less jeepney fare.
The downside is, it's another empty day for me. It's boring at home and since I have no money, I really don't have anywhere else to go. After taking my breakfast and doing chores, I'm not sure what's next. I don't have any plans. It can be a rest day, but I may not know how to rest. My brain is always tiring itself all the time (even for no reason) and it makes me always exhausted. I'm also quite insomniac so I couldn't put myself to sleep easily during the day. I have work but I rather do it afternoon to evening (to midnights)
Now I just emptied my coffee, sitting in the living room. That amount of caffeine failed to energize and wake me up. I have no pending schoolworks to do as well (which feels strange by the way, I feel like I must've missed something and it's bugging me). Maybe I will just do some computer task but I will just procrastinate for a bit while I write this post.
With that, I just decided to answer 20 questions. I got these questions from an online personal question generator.
1. What's the best thing you got from one of your parents?
Their brains. One of the key factors of me being a smart cookie and a learning freak now is my smart and creative pair of parents. My mother is an accountancy graduate, and has a lot of street smarts and she was very strategic in raising us. My father was a civil engineering student and he's also a commissioned paint artist. I didn't inherit their Math enthusiasm and interests but they surely got me an edge to being intelligent, logical, creative, and fast-learning.
2. What do you like most about your family?
Being very inclusive and supporting in everything we the kids do. The three of us are pursuing our studies in Senior High School and College, and our mother just lets us do things, making us easy to focus and achieve good grades. It's not just in school, but also in life. We help each other when we needed to.
3. Pet peeves?
Tardy people, especially when it inconveniences me. I'm a very time-conscious person and being a working person taught me so much about being on time, so lateness can leave a sour taste in my mouth. I can consider if they informed me earlier that they're going to be late because I know there are outside factors that may make someone late and I may be at some situations at times myself, but some of them don't have the courtesy to inform, which seem very disrespectful.
4. In your group of friends, what role do you play?
I don't believe in friend groups, it's seems very exclusive and controlling for me. But in a general sense, I see myself as the listener, short-worded, and the quiet, observant, insightful one. Heck, I may even call myself as the background character. I try to be always available and give kindness to whoever could make use of it. Sometimes I do this because I want to make myself feel liked, included, and celebrated for being there and hope they appreciate me, but I rather think that I want to be around because I like them so much.
5. Who was your favorite teacher and why?
I have this cool grade 12 teacher. He teaches math and science and he's the adviser for our class. He's young so the age gap isn't really that drastic, so he's someone who can somehow relate and we can relate to. He makes casual and more personal conversations with us sometimes. He's very approachable. He even bought me an ice cream once when I volunteered decorating the room for Christmas on a Saturday. He gave me a 70 one time but it's understandable because I did not like chemistry back then by the way. He sets the bar for the interpersonal skill aspect for being a teacher for me and he's also quite introverted and nerdy which I admired about him.
6. What's on your bucket list this year?
Attend a concert. I never attended a concert before. Maybe I attended some music events and hopefully
7. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
With a name very short yet complicated to read or spell, I would go for something much easier to process. Maybe Dana or Abigail (Abby). But now I'm starting to like my name more, it's unique, remarkable and could really make people ask questions.
8. What was the best compliment you've ever received?
I'm a sucker for validation. So when I get someone say "she's good at that.", "I don't think there something she can't do", "she's insightful to talk to", "she's very observant", and most important of them all... "she's a writer" and "she's a tech person" because appreciating my abilities on fields I am enthusiastic at really means a lot, even if I still got a long way with those.
9. What's one of your favorite comfort foods?
One? Let me list down 10: Burger, Fries, Korean BBQ, Spicy Noodles, Chicken Porridge, Leche Flan, Ice Cream, Pizza, Doughnuts
10. What talent would you show off in a talent show?
I sing and play the guitar.
11. Who inspires you to be better?
My siblings. We are all in a healthy competition with each other, and super supportive as well. They are fun and has strong personalities. I love them so much with all my being and I am proud of them. As the eldest, their achievements and moral support drives me to do better.
12. What is something you can never seem to finish?
I tried starting to write a novel so many times, yet beginning it is the only thing I can do. It's either it's easy for me to go lazy and lose interest or every writing session is a nightmarish writer's block and pressure that however good it is in my imagination, I can't seem to put it well on paper (or in a word processor, I don't discriminate on writing methods)
13. When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?
Bunch of things. Helping them write something, setting up the projector for a PowerPoint presentation, some lesson tutoring, creating a Word document and/or printing them, some advice for personal/emotional dilemmas. And so on. Can be a bunch of things or do this and do thats, which are okay with me.
14. What makes you cry?
The real question here is what doesn't make me cry at all?? Just kidding. I am a way too emotional person and almost everything makes me cry. Emotional and Mental distress, negative family situations, arguments, sad movies, sad music, random scenarios in my head, self-esteem issues. Name it, we have it. The list goes on.
15. If you lost all of your possessions but one, what would you want it to be?
My laptop, I can basically do everything I need with it; writing, going online, watch videos, listen to music, read something, work, play games, schoolworks and so on.
16. Pizza or tacos?
Pizza (Well I haven't tried tacos yet because there's no taco place I know in the area but I am so open to trying that one as well. Who knows?? The way I've seen it on the internet, I think I'm going to like them)
17. What would you do on a free afternoon in the middle of the week?
It's a Wednesday afternoon, so most likely I am at school and in a class. But since it asked "free", I think I'm either at school having a great time hanging around with people, have outdoor plans and errands, or just alone in my room letting my mind run wild.
18. What is one of the great values that guides your life?
Having a strong sense of identity. I believe that if I am someone who has a great grasp with who I am, it helps me find my motivation, purpose, and focus in everything I do. I will not get easily distracted
19. What have you created that you are most proud of?
Can I say everything? It's every writing work I published for myself, for somewhere else, or written works I submitted for class. Same with works I just keep laying around and still haven't seen the light of day, I am also proud of them because without those pieces, it's not a progress of myself being a writer with full on conviction, those pieces are meant to be written to enhance what I possess. Most remarkable one is when I joined a campus publication. I'm just glad to have contributed there.
20. What are you a natural at?
Simple Technology. Give me a task about internet, technology, or computers and I can easily follow along with just a few instructions. I am the token "technical support" person at home and school. I learned troubleshooting, graphics design, video and photo editing, social media handling, email and calendar management, creating documents and presentations, operating projectors, printers, and computers all by myself. I'm comfortable using the computer and explore things, which is a skill I think not everyone has.
That's it for now. Happy empty day. Now back to doomscrolling my social media
