Travel Must Haves and Tips

One thing about me is that I am somewhat of a travel person. Not very much (for now) but I definitely would want to spend my life doing so. I go outside often; I do errands and go out for leisure, maybe if there are outdoor trips I am invited in, I make sure I can go and have a great time. I work at home so taking the time to be out and about is helpful for me to not lose my mind. I enjoy being out in the city; shopping, walking around parks, trying out food and more. I also get to appreciate nature. I'm not a big hiking and camping person (yet) but I like swimming, ecological parks, maybe biking, and light outdoor experiences. The thing is, I don't get to have the time, money, and energy to try more adventures, so I only end up with walking around the city, going to malls and nearby parks, and eating out. I don't go far a lot, and I haven't been for quite some time. Besides, if things go well, I plan to go on several bigger trips sometime this year. With that, I am als...

Hello (and welcome to my new space on the web)

Hello there, It's great to see you here! This feels like letting everyone in my new home. Come in and make yourselves comfortable. I have coffee, snacks, and maybe some good reads. Feel free to look around, and approach me every time you'll need something. I'll just be in the kitchen, or by my usual spot—the coffee table. I go by Moonfly. I'm not trying to hide my name, but I just feel so whimsical and quirky having a little stage name. As this suggests, I want this blog to be a safe, fun, and whimsical space for my thoughts and romanticizing aspects of my life and being. I work a remote job in digital media and I'm also a student and aspiring creative. I've always loved blogging. It was since I was introduced to the world wide web at 4th grade, I was hooked with social media and internet culture, and later on got into blogging in my 8th grade. Back then life and the internet seem like less-complicated, I've created some posts and written a bunch of stuff ...

My strange relationship with writing

"You're good with words", "You have so much energy to write", "You're so articulate in writing"… Most of the time not really, but when I do, I go crazy (maybe because it's the only chance I can feel things) I grew up in a household where we have to move places to places every now and then. That means I transferred schools every year or two (I've got into 4 schools in elementary alone, 3 for junior high, and I've went somewhere else for my seniors), and that may have done something to my psyche as adjusting to a new environment all of a sudden and starting over to get along in a social setting is an exhausting task, especially for an elementary schooler at the time. It didn't matter to me as a kid, As I get older, being "the transferee" kid all the time took a toll on me. It's hard to get into friendship circles as everyone have known and bonded with each other already. This was around the time social media is not yet a...

Leap of faith but you're suspended mid air

…and the wind just brings you somewhere uncertain. You may be confused by now, but hey, you're floating. Two weeks into 2025, I have been faced with a roller coaster of chaos while at the same time just laying down on the bed letting a slow, lazy day go by. From delayed payment stuff to adjusting myself to a new full-time work, so many things are happening, I can't even believe it's only half the month. It really is indeed a slow month and what would others say, "it feels like a year in itself." And now, I’m in for some major life-changing decisions. But despite all that happening in front of me all at once, there are a few things that feels like a heavy thing to take on but ended up quite a breath of fresh air and a whole new different direction, really putting things in a whole new perspective. I used to be a fast-paced, driven, and a "get things done right away" kind of person, or at least I am trying to push myself into being productive all the tim...

Internet of Things and the All-tech Lifestyle

Picture this; It was a long day from work, you opened the door as you walk into your home, and the lights automatically dim to a soothing level, creating a welcoming ambiance. Your favorite chill-out playlist starts playing softly in the background, and the thermostat adjusts to the perfect temperature for relaxation. You sink into the bed, as you picked up your phone for a mindless scroll, and with a simple voice command, the coffee machine begins brewing a hot cup of your favorite blend, signaling the start of your well-deserved rest. What a life... When I was 10, we had our first home computer, with a windows 7 displayed on a thick CRT monitor. I was fascinated by them and what they can do. I remember how my eyes were hooked with the colors and the graphics when I was playing Farmville on my mother’s Facebook account. I also fell in love with Microsoft Excel. Then, I had my first smartphone when I was 14. Now that I’m 26 and I live by my own, I can say that I personally invest...

Life of Being a Virtual Assistant + Some Tips

I have been a virtual professional for years now. I work at home, in front of my computer. People say it was easy, but there’s a lot more to that. The amount of preparations, considerations, and things I need to get settled before starting work is astronomical. It is just as stressful and chaotic as working in an office. Sure, I have the comfort of working at home. But the workload is not that easy, and the stressful energy is already at the comfort of your home. Sitting at your home office chair is weird in a casual day. I have no colleagues to talk to personally, of course I have a phone but talking to people physically hits different. I can see my work sticky notes even when I’m out of work. That is why I developed life hacks or ground rules to maintain a balance in my work and my home. To avoid any inconveniences and unnecessary extra work. Exhibit A – Life At Work Separate your personal stuff to your work stuff Self-explanatory rule of thumb, and you’ll get more tips about it late...

My take on AI writing as a writer by heart

The rise in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) tools on writing have been visibly skyrocketing, and I get to witness it all as someone who has an undying passion for creative writing, publishing media and literature, and I have thoughts about it. I understand that it can be tempting to “live on easy mode” and just call an AI work as your own, but I am trying not to for the sake of integrity and passion. I have this dream of making a living being a writer, either but publishing a book or working on lifestyle magazines either as a writer or part of production; hence why I am currently taking on a communication program and further hones my skills and passion for the craft such as continuously writing poems, essays, blog posts, and so on. And being a virtual assistant, I sort of work with writing already, since I do social media and blog content as well. For me, writing is an outlet to express myself. I am creative, emotional, and opinionated. However, I’m not very expressive so I find...

Cybersecurity Basics 101

I’m not here to scare you, but let's admit it, our data is already somewhere else we are not aware of, one way or the other. If you're a huge customer of everything online (social media, online banking, online shopping, etc.), most likely your data you give to these companies had been compromised and/or being sold or shared somewhere else. I am not a cybersecurity expert, just someone that is “chronically online”. I have read somewhere that there are possibilities or theories that in order for some online companies be able to provide free or cheap products while still not going bankrupt, they may have done something unethical; sell some customer data on the down low, in which other companies buy, especially telemarketers who are looking for people to sell products on, or worse, scammers looking for potential paydays. Others also may have use it to open dummy financial accounts under your name without your knowledge or consent Keep in mind that these are all allegedly, and obvio...

Constant Social Anxiety and Wanting to Belong: How I navigate life as an awkward being

Whether we like it or not, we all got our weaknesses. They say, “life will be too easy if we are all created perfect”, so it is quite a natural thing to have difficulties and challenges as we navigate life, let alone a world made of uncertainties. After all, we are not made perfect, but rather made to be beautiful and capable of achieving great things. One thing about me is that I am a huge ball of anxiety. I get nervous and freaked out all the time over the simplest things. In fact, this post is inspired by a recent interaction; Me taking hours to send a message to my professor because I’m overthink things so much. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been always a smart and kind person as well as a good student with great potential, but I don’t know why it’s like a heavy task to just do basic human tasks, especially interacting with people. There’s also a constant habit of people-pleasing; pouring my all to anything and anyone else but myself. Some people may say that I am wasting my poten...
